IUPUI FALLS AT #7 LOUISVILLE, 84-62

Rachel Kent led the Jaguar offense with 17 points

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The IUPUI women's basketball team fell to #7 Louisville on Thursday night, 84-62. Senior Rachel Kent led the Jaguar offense with 17 points.

"I thought our team played hard and did a good job executing our defensive game plan," said head coach Kate Bruce. "It is a great experience for us to play a top ten team on the road. Despite the loss, there were a lot of positives that we can continue to build on."

Louisville (2-0) jumped out to a 10-0 lead before Natalie Andersen scored the first two points for the Jags with a layup. IUPUI fought back to close the gap to a four-point deficit at 14-10 but that's the closest the Jags would get as the Cardinals pushed their lead to 11 after the first quarter, 25-14. Going into the half, Louisville held a 13-point lead at 49-13. Coming out of the half, the Cardinals went on a 18-2 run to push their lead to 69-44 and would seal the win at 84-62.

The Cardinals defense held the Jags to just 32.3 percent (21-for-65) from the floor and 38.5 percent (10-for-26) from the three-point line. Louisville shot 47.8 percent (33-for-69) from the floor while being held to just 25.0 percent (4-for-16) from behind the arc.

Kent scored a season-high 17 points with four rebounds while Natalie Andersen scored nine with five rebounds. Ali Berg added eight points with five rebounds while Genesis Parker collected three assists and seven points. Nakaih Hunter brought down a team-high six boards.
