INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's tennis team, still playing short-handed, fell to Dayton in today's home matchup, 7-0. Senior
Sarah Lounsbury showed a strong effort at No. 3 singles, taking her match to three sets but ultimately fell (6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (8)).
The Jags had to forfeit the points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, giving the Flyers a two point advantage. IUPUI also forfeited No. 3 doubles to start the match, putting the Flyers one step closer to winning the doubles point. Dayton took advantage with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, capturing the point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over IUPUI's partnership of
Christina Stankovic and Lounsbury.
IUPUI had to once again climb the ladder in singles play with Bernard falling at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-1) and
Samantha Hayward dropping the No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-2). Junior
Diya Matta was defeated by Dayton's Laura Greb at No. 4 singles (7-6 (4), 6-0).
The Jags host Illinois State Sunday (Jan. 30) at 4:00 PM.
