INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team dropped Sunday's match to Illinois State, 7-0, to finish out their three-match weekend.
The Jags had to forfeit the points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles once again due to being shorthanded. Illinois State took advantage of the forfeits and capitalized on it with wins at No. 1, No. 2, No.3 and No. 4 singles. The Redbirds also took the doubles point to start the match despite strong efforts from
Meghan Bernard and
Samantha Hayward at No. 1 doubles (6-4).
Bernard fell in singles play at the No. 1 spot (6-3, 6-2) and
Marta Krakowski fought hard but fell at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-3).
IUPUI will face local competitor UIndy on Feb. 2 at 3:00 PM as the Greyhounds host the Jaguars for a doubleheader with the men's tennis team.
