INDIANAPOLIS - A short-handed IUPUI women's tennis team was on the wrong side of the ledger against SIUE inside West Indy Racquet Club on Friday (Jan. 28), falling to the visiting Cougars 7-0. The Jags were limited to just five healthy bodies, forcing the hosts to forfeit a point at No. 6 singles and a match at No. 3 doubles.
SIUE took advantage with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, capturing the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles over IUPUI's tandem of
Christina Stankovic and
Sarah Lounsbury.
IUPUI (1-3) had to juggle its singles lineup with its top two players out of action, forcing everyone to climb the ladder. Lounsbury had a strong showing at No. 4 singles, ultimately falling to SIUE's Fabiola Perez, 6-4, 6-4.
Samantha Hayward fell at No. 3 by a 6-2, 6-2 score and
Marta Krakowski was defeated at No. 5 by Melissa Vizcardo, 6-1, 6-3.
IUPUI will continue the homestand against Dayton on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at West Indy.
