Colton Morehart earned the sole point for the Jags going three sets in the No. 3 singles spot, defeating Michigan State's Reed Crocker, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-3.
Three Jags took their matches into three sets but fell to their Michigan State competitors.
Alex Jochim won the first set but couldn't hold his competition off as Trojan, Nick Williams came back and won two straight sets to earn the No. 1 singles point, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Emil Jankowski also lost in three sets, with two of those sets going into a tiebreaker, in the No. 4 singles spot, 6-7 (4-4), 6-4, 1-0 (10-4). At No. 5 singles, freshman
Kamil Kozerski fell in three sets, with two of those going into a tiebreaker as well, 7-6 (13-11), 4-6, 1-0 (10-4).
Michigan State earned the doubles point by defeated the Jags in all three matches.
The Jags continue their season-opening road trip tomorrow at Northwestern at 6:00 PM.
