LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IUPUI women's tennis team fought hard in every match but ultimately fell to Purdue on the road on Sunday, 7-0.
Samantha Hayward partnered with
Meghan Bernard were ahead of Purdue's Nathalia Wolf Gasparin and Rut Galindo at No. 2 doubles, 5-3, but the match was unfinished. IUPUI lost the doubles point with a 6-0 loss in No. 1 doubles and a 6-2 loss at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Jags battled but Purdue took the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 2 singles to earn the match win.
Christina Stankovic took her first set to 6-2 and her second set to 6-4 but fell in No. 3 singles.
Sarah Lounsbury took her two sets to 6-2 but lost the No. 6 singles match.
IUPUI will return to the court in Indianapolis at West Indy Racquet Club next weekend on Friday (Jan. 21) at 11:30 a.m. as they take on Colorado.
