INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department has officially adopted its Name, Image & Likeness Policy, helping provide framework for Jaguar student-athletes under the new NIL rules. The policy, which was constructed by the department's NIL Oversight Committee, is framed around educating and enhancing student-athlete opportunities to maximize NIL opportunities, while protecting individuals' NCAA eligibility. 

A number of IUPUI student-athletes have already taken advantage of NIL opportunities, largely through social media exposure. 

"With the NCAA's recent interim policy permitting student-athlete usage of their name, image, and likeness, we are excited for our Jaguars and hope they maximize their opportunities to be appropriately compensated," said Jeremy Wilson, IUPUI's Faculty Athletics Representative and Associate Professor and Chair of IUPUI's Department of Anthropology. "IUPUI's administrators, faculty, and staff will continue to foster an environment for our student-athletes where academic achievement, degree completion, athletic success and community service are priorities."

Wilson served as chair of the NIL Oversight Committee and spearheaded the drafting of the final policy. 

"I want to thank the NIL institutional oversight committee for their diligence and hard work in completing this policy that will permit our student-athletes to take advantage of their name, image, and likeness," IUPUI Director of Athletics Dr. Roderick Perry said. "This is an an exciting time for our student-athletes and this policy lays out the necessary framework that will ensure they are operating within the spirit of this new permissible, transformational legislation."

The 13-member committee worked in concert with the IUPUI Compliance office and included the following individuals.
