INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI volleyball team will make its home debut this weekend when the Jaguars host the annual Hampton Inn Invitational inside the Jungle. The Jaguars will welcome Chattanooga, Toledo and Western Illinois to the round robin event as two matches will be played on Friday (Sept. 3), followed by four matches on Saturday (Sept. 4).
On the court, IUPUI (1-2) will take on Chattanooga on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. before facing both Western Illinois (12:00 p.m.) and Toledo (6:00 p.m.) on Saturday. No video will be available but live stats of all six matches will be available at the start of each contest. Head coach Lindsey Froehlich's squad went 1-2 to start the year at the EIU Panther Invitational, culminating with a 3-1 win over Bellarmine.
Freshman
Briana Brown and junior
Allie Pogue paced the IUPUI offense with 37 and 36 kills respectively as the Jaguars hit .190 over three matches. Maddie Haines chipped in 28 kills and
Millai Madison and
Emily Alan had 13 apiece.
Darragh Dixon handled the setting duties, averaging 8.83 assists per set for the weekend. Meanwhile,
Addie Evans and
Alli Cook were tops from the service line with four aces each.
Defensively, fifth-year senior
Rhiannon Schuenemann averaged 4.50 digs per set and Madison and Haines anchored the blocking positions with a combined 22 blocks.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga is 1-2 to start the year with a win over Georgia State and losses to both Memphis and Cal Baptist. Gylian Finch leads the Mocs with 36 kills and Sophia Bossong averages 9.30 assists per set. Defensively, Paige Gallentine averages 4.40 digs/set and Coniah Davis (11.0 blocks) and Marcelle Baez-Carlo (10.0 blocks) lead their block.
SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toledo opened the season at 2-1 with wins over Elon and Lehigh sandwiching a 3-0 loss at Virginia Tech. Taylor Alt averages 4.10 kills/set and is hitting .310 to start the year while Elaine Redman averages 7.89 assists/set. Rhyen Neal has a team-high 29 digs and Rhyenne Filisi, Jada Bouyer and Alt have a team-high seven blocks each.
SCOUTING WESTERN ILLINOIS
WIU is 0-3 to start the year, having suffered losses to Northern Illinois, William & Mary and CSU Bakersfield thus far. Mariah Mitchell leads the WIU attack at 2.70 kills/set and Jessie Connell averages 5.71 assists/set. Defensively, Erika Moore averages a team-high 2.86 digs per set and Kennedy Davis has a team-high 8.0 blocks.

IUPUI will participate in the Indiana State Tournament from Sept. 9-11, squaring off with Indiana State (Sept. 9), Austin Peay (Sept. 10) and Western Michigan (Sept. 11) in Terre Haute.
