CHICAGO – IUPUI men's tennis dropped a close 4-3 battle against UIC on Saturday (April 17). The final came down to the last match, a three-set loss for IUPUI.
IUPUI earned the doubles point with wins in all three doubles matches. The duo of
Blessing Benibo and
Colton Morehart won at No. 3, 6-0.
Alex Jochim and
Emil Jankowski earned the Jags the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 1.
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono and
Sean Bailey took their No. 2 doubles match 7-6.
Benibo started singles play with a win at No. 6, 6-0, 6-4 but the Jags lost the next three singles matches at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5. Mardanus-Budiono pulled out a three-set win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 1 to even the match 3-3. The No. 2 match featuring Jochim also went to three sets but the Flames pulled out the win as Jochim fell 6-4, 2-6, 4-6.
