JAGS BEAT SMU 4-3

IUPUI overcame a 3-2 deficit to beat the Mustangs.

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI men's tennis picked up its third-straight win with a comeback victory over SMU on Friday (Feb. 19). Down 3-2 in the match, the Jags picked up the last two singles points for a 4-3 win against the Mustangs.

After dropping the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, IUPUI (3-2) tied up the doubles competition with a 6-4 win by Eric Hollingsworth and Blessing Benibo and No. 3. The Jags took the doubles point with Ethan Mardanus-Budiono and Sean Bailey winning the No. 2 match 7-5.

Hollingsworth earned IUPUI's second point with a 7-5, 7-5 win at the No. 6 singles spot but SMU (6-6) bounced back winning the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 2 singles match to go up 3-2. Emil Jankowski earned a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 three set win at No. 5 to keep the Jags alive. Colton Morehart sealed the deal for IUPUI with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot.

IUPUI's next matches will be against Ball State on Friday (Feb. 26) and Monday (March 1).
