EVANSVILLE, Ind. – IUPUI men's tennis won its second-straight match, picking up a tight 4-3 win over Austin Peay on Saturday (Feb. 13).
IUPUI (2-2) jumped out to a lead winning the doubles point.
Blessing Benibo and
Eric Hollingsworth scored a 6-3 win at No. 3 for the first doubles win. The duo of
Alex Jochim and
Colton Morehart earned the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1.
In singles play, Jochim made quick work of his No. 2 match, winning 6-3, 6-0. After Austin Peay (0-3) won the No. 5 match,
Eric Hollingsworth took the No. 6 match 6-2, 6-1 to pull the Jags within one point of victory.
The Governors took both the No. 3 and No. 4 matches leaving the No. 1 match as the deciding match.
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono won his first set 6-3 but dropped set two 4-6. The third set went to a tie break and Mardanus-Budiono pulled out the win for the Jags with a 7-3 win in the tie break.
IUPUI will be back in Indianapolis for its next match, taking on SMU on Saturday (Feb. 19).
