GREEN BAY, Wis – Rachel McLimore led the way with 17 points but IUPUI lost its third-straight game, falling 60-55 at Green Bay on Friday (Jan. 29).
McLimore hit double figures for the third-straight game going 7-for-16 from the field and 3-for-7 from three-point range. After taking 26 free throws in her last two games, McLimore did not get to the free throw line once in the game.
Macee Williams was second on the team in scoring with 13 points and
Katelyn O'Reilly finished with 10. Both O'Reilly and
Sydney Roule scored their 500th-career points in an IUPUI uniform during the game.
Agatha Beier led IUPUI with five assists.
The Jags jumped out to an early lead as they shot 62 percent from the field and 50 percent from deep in the first quarter to take a 20-12 lead after the first ten minutes. Green Bay's (9-5, 8-3 Horizon) defense buckled down the rest of the game, holding IUPUI (8-4, 6-3 Horizon) to 33 percent shooting over the next two quarters and not allowing the Jags to hit a three in the second or third stanzas.
Holding a 30-24 lead at halftime, IUPUI was outscored 18-8 in the third quarter as Green Bay took control of the game. Williams hit a layup to put IUPUI up six early in the third but the Phoenix went on a 14-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 40-34 lead.
To start the fourth quarter, Williams hit two free throws and
Morgan Allen hit a jumper to tie the game. For the next four minutes Green Bay went on a 13-0 as the Jags went 0-for-4 from the field and committed four turnovers to effectively close out the game.
IUPUI outrebounded Green Bay 33-27 with Williams leading the Jags with seven boards.
Green Bay forced 21 turnovers by IUPUI, the most in the last seven games for the Jags.
Caitlyn Hibner led all scorers, leading the Phoenix with 22 points.
The third-straight loss is the first time IUPUI has lost three-straight conference games since 2017.
IUPUI and Green Bay will finish up the weekend with another game on Saturday (Jan. 30) with tip off set for 2 p.m.
