INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's tennis team fought hard, but was unable to get a point off of a solid Butler team.
 
The lone win for the Jaguars came at the No. 1 doubles spot with the team of Sean Bailey and Alex Jochim taking down the bulldogs 6-4. The win at No. 1 doubles, however, was not enough for the Jags to capture the doubles point due to a loss at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Reed Plunkett fell 6-0, 6-1 at #6 and Michael Koch lost by a score of 6-0, 6-0 at #4, putting the Bulldogs one point away from victory. Ethan Mardanus-Budiono eventually fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to give Butler the win.
 
"We started off strong and had chances for the doubles point, but it didn't go our way," said head coach Bren Vasalakis. "We lost all of our first sets in singles and battled back in a few spots in the second set and had chances."
 
Jochim (No. 1) and Moody (No. 5) both lost by a score of 6-2, 7-5 and Bailey lost 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3.
 
IUPUI will return to play next Saturday (Feb.29) as the Jags take on Austin Peay in Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m at the West Indy Racquet Club.
