INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time this season, Macee Williams has been named Horizon League Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Jan. 6). Williams earned the award after leading the Jaguars to a 2-0 week.
Williams was a force for the Jags, averaging 15 points and 8.5 rebounds in the wins over Oakland and Detroit Mercy in just over 21 minutes per game. Williams shot 76.5% from the field for the weekend.
In IUPUI's win over Oakland to start the weekend, Williams scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. Williams was 8-for-10 from the field against the Golden Grizzlies. Against Detroit Mercy, Williams scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down four rebounds, while dishing out four assists and picking up three steals.
On the season, Williams leads the Jags with 16.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game. Williams' 59.5 field goal percentage and rebounding numbers lead the Horizon League and the junior is also third in the league in scoring.
Williams and the rest of the Jaguars are back in action, finishing up a four-game home stand with games against Northern Kentucky (Jan. 9) and Wright State (Jan. 11).
