VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO ATLANTA FOR HYATT REGENCY INVITATIONAL

IUPUI will play two matches on Friday (Sept. 6), facing Lipscomb at 11 a.m. and Georgia Tech at 7 p.m.

ATLANTA, Ga. – IUPUI volleyball hits the road for the first time this weekend as the Jaguars will compete in the Hyatt Regency Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech on Friday (Sept. 6). The Jags will begin Friday taking on Lipscomb at 11 a.m. and finishing the day against the Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m.

THE SERIES
  • The Jaguars have only faced Lipscomb once with IUPUI earning a 3-0 win over the Bisons back in 2005.
  • IUPUI will be taking on Georgia Tech for the first time in school history
JAG SCRATCHES
  • McKayla Wright leads the Jaguars offense with 44 kills, averaging a team-high 3.38 per set. The senior from Fort Wayne, Ind., has now finished with double-digit kills in her first three matches of 2019.
  • In a five-set win over Murray State, Wright finished with a career-high 18 kills on 50 attempts, hitting .220.
  • Wright has tallied two double-doubles this season, finishing with 13 kills and 15 digs in the season-opener against South Dakota and an 18-kill, 14-dig game against Murray State.
  • Wright has six blocks on the season, picking up at least one block in each match, including a season-high three against Murray State.
  • Junior Maddie Dean hit. 275 and finished with a career-best 18 kills and notched a double-double with 13 digs in the Jags five-set win over Murray State (Aug. 31).
  • Haley Hoffman started her season strong in the middle of the Jaguars defense, finishing the three-match weekend with 17 blocks, including seven solo blocks.
  • In her only match this season, freshman Regan Trueblood posted a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs.
  • Junior Rebecca Schlechte had 30+ assists in all three matches over the first weekend of the season and recorded a double-double against Valparaiso (Aug. 31) with 36 assists and 10 digs.
  • Junior Rhiannon Schuenemann finished the weekend with two matches of 20+ digs including a season-high 26 against Murray State.
  • Sophomore Hannah Oehlberg has averaged 12.6 kills per match in her last seven matches going back to last season.
  • IUPUI has now won its last three five-set matches dating back to last season.
SCOUTING LIPSCOMB
  • Lipscomb lost all three matches in its season-opening tournament at TCU last weekend.
  • The Bisons were outhit .340 to .104 over the weekend
  • Lanie Wagner led the team with 26 kills over the three matches and Garrett Joiner was second on the team with 22
SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH
  • Georgia Tech was undefeated in its season-opening tournament but fell to Kennesaw State in a midweek match
  • Julia Bergmann led the Yellow Jackets in its weekend tournament averaging 4.40 kills per set. The freshman also added 37 digs and eight service aces.
  • Matti McKissock guided the offense with 115 assists and added 21 digs.
UP NEXT
  • IUPUI will remain on the road with its first midweek match, traveling up to Fort Wayne for a matchup with Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday (Sept. 10).
