Fresh off an unbeaten week, the IUPUI women's soccer team will enter the season's third week with a home match with Eastern Kentucky on Thursday night (Sept. 5), followed by a match at Central Michigan on Sunday (Sept. 8). Thursday's game is Women's Soccer Spirit Night, presented by IUPUI SAPB and FREE adidas t-shirts will be distributed to students in attendance, while supplies last. Thursday's game will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:15 p.m..
Sunday's match at CMU will begin at 1:00 p.m.
MATCH INFO
- Thursday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+ as Scott Agness will be on the call. In addition, live stats will be available at kickoff.
- Admission is just $5 for ages 13-and-up and just $2 for youth, ages 3-12. IUPUI students are admitted for FREE with a valid Crimson Card and parking is FREE during home events in lots 59, 63, 80 and 86. FREE adidas t-shirts will be distributed to students while supplies last.
- Sunday's game will be broadcast on CMU's website and live stats will begin at kickoff.
THE SERIES
- IUPUI is 0-2 all-time against Eastern Kentucky with losses to the Colonels in 2017 and 2018. Last year's the Jaguars lost a 3-1 decision in Richmond, Ky., as Miranda Ricks scored a goal off an Elizabeth Bueckers assist.
- IUPUI is 0-2 all-time against Central Michigan, having dropped decisions to the Chippewas in 1998 and 1999 by identical 2-1 scores.
JAG SCRATCHES
- IUPUI is 2-1-1 on the season, having blanked three of its first four opponents for the first time in program history. The Jags shutout Toledo, Western Illinois and Southern Illinois, sandwiched around a 4-1 loss at Butler.
- Redshirt freshman AP Woodall has been pressed into action in goal and responded with back-to-back shutouts against Western Illinois and Southern Illinois, having yet to yield a goal in 200 minutes.
- Offensively, junior Valentine Pursey has a team-high two goals and four points while Ricks has a goal and an assist. True freshman Maya Lacognato also has a goal while Maya Turner and Josie Denton both have assists. Pursey has a team-high 16 shot attempts and both she and Lacognato have five shots on frame.
- Pursey has moved into sixth on the program's all-time list with 19 career goals, 10 of which have been game-winners.
- IUPUI went 6-10-3 last season with a 3-5-1 mark in Horizon League play.
- The Jaguars were recently picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League preseason polls
- Senior goalkeeper Sophia Lipka registered her 18th career shutout in the season opening win over Toledo, putting her three shy of tying IUPUI Hall of Famer Jamie Farrell's all-time record of 21.
- Junior defender Natalie McNally has played a team-high 367 minutes in the defensive third this season while Lacognato is second on the team with 316 minutes.
- The Jags return their top four scorers from a season ago in Bueckers (14 pts), Ricks (11), Pursey (10) and Emma Chambers (8).
- Lipka was the 2017 Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and is on pace to break the program's all-time record in shutouts.
- IUPUI returns 10 of 11 starters from last season, including the quintet of Lipka, Pursey, Chambers, McNally and Jenna Sterr, who started all 19 matches a season ago.
- Head coach Chris Johnson, the program's all-time leader in wins (116), enters his 17th season on the Jaguars' sidelines and has taken IUPUI to two NCAA Tournaments (2009 & 2017)
SCOUTING EASTERN KENTUCKY
- EKU is 1-3 to start the year with road losses at Oakland, Ohio and a home loss to Chattanooga. The Colonels' lone win came over Horizon League preseason favorite Milwaukee by a 1-0 score.
- Three of the Colonels four matches have gone to overtime this season.
- Kylie Thompson leads the EKU offense with two goals, including the game-winner against Milwaukee.
- In goal, Billie Clark has played the majority of the team's minutes, logging a 0.94 goals against average and .857 save percentage. Behind her, Zoe Aguirre has a 1.47 GAA and .786 save percentage in two games.
- Former IUPUI men's assistant coach Matt Cosinuke is in his first year as EKU's head coach.
SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN
- Central Michigan is 0-0-2 to start the season with ties at both UIC (0-0) and Northwestern (1-1). The Chippewas will host Indiana State on Friday (Sept. 6) in their home opener before hosting the Jaguars on Sunday.
- Riley Mann has CMU's lone goal on the season with Cassidy Pettinger contributing the Chips' assist. Katie Coleman has attempted a team-high five shots, putting three on frame.
- Zoie Reed has played all 220 minutes in net, recording 19 saves and a 0.41 goals against average and .950 save percentage.

- IUPUI will host Belmont on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:00 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Jags will then cap the weekend at Valpo on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m..
