VOLLEYBALL MAKES TRIP TO INDIANA STATE

IUPUI will play its final non-conference midweek match of the season taking on the Sycamores on Tuesday.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - IUPUI volleyball will make the trip down I-70 to Terre Haute to face off against Indiana State on Tuesday night (Sept. 17). The match against the Sycamores will begin at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

IUPUI (4-5) earned two wins last weekend beating Southern Illinois and Alabama State at the Southern Illinois Invitational. The Jags made an impressive comeback against the Salukis as IUPUI was down 2-0 in the match and was down 24-17 in the third set before coming back to win in five sets. 

Senior McKayla Wright continues to lead the Jaguar offense with 3.36 kills per set and Hannah Oehlberg (2.86) and Maddie Dean (2.35) are second and third, respectively. Freshman Corrissa Remter had the best weekend of her career, notching a career-high 14 kills while hitting .591 against Memphis and had 10 kills and a career-high eight blocks against Southern Illinois. Remter is now averaging 1.41 kills per set and 0.95 blocks per set. 

INSIDE THE SERIES
IUPUI is 9-16 all-time against Indiana State but has won the last two meetings and five of the last six. The last meeting was in 2017 with the Jags coming away with a 3-2 win. Each of the last three meetings has gone to five sets. 

SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
Indiana State is 1-8 on the season with a 3-0 win over Western Illinois in its last match. The Sycamores have played two other Horizon League teams (Green Bay and Wright State), losing both matches in five sets. As a team the Sycamores are hitting just .143 and allowing opponents to hit .248. No Indiana State player is averaging more than 3.00 kills per set but four players are averaging at least 2.00 kills per set, led by Nikkie White at 2.78.

IUPUI will finish non-conference play with a tournament at Western Michigan over the weekend, taking on Western Michigan, Michigan State and Auburn.
