INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI men's tennis lost its first Horizon League game, falling to UIC in a close battle, 4-3. The loss was also the first loss at the West Indy Racquet Club for the Jags, who move to 5-1 on their home court.
Doubles play began with
Alex Jochim and
Colton Morehart teaming for the 6-4 win but things went UIC's way in the other two matches.
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono and
Sean Bailey fell 6-4 in the No. 2 match and the Flames earned the doubles point beating
Bradley Luetschwager and
Kyle Whittaker 6-4 at No. 2.
To begin singles play, the Jags found themselves in a big hole with Morehart losing at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2) and  Luetschwager falling in the No. 5 match (6-3, 6-4). The Jags scored their first point of the match as
Eric Hollingsworth continued his strong play, winning his No. 6 match 6-2, 6-4. The match came to an end after Jochim was beaten in the No. 1 match 7-5, 6-3. IUPUI's final two points of the match came from Bailey with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 and Mardanus-Budiono earned a three-set victory at No. 4, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
UP NEXT
IUPUI will play its final two home matches of the season next Sunday (April 14) as the Jaguars will host Green Bay at 12 p.m. before hosting the Iowa Hawkeyes at 7 p.m.
