INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis dropped its fourth-straight match with a 5-2 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday (April 13).
The loss puts the Jags at 1-5 in Horizon League play with three matches left to play. IUPUI sits in eighth place and the top six teams in the league make the Horizon League tournament at the end of the season.
The Jags got on the board quickly as
Krystal Grubb and
Mariella Pessina teamed up for a 6-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot. Milwaukee tied up the doubles competition with a win at No. 1 over
Christina Stankovic and
Gabrielle Ochalik. With the doubles point on the line, the team of
Meghan Bernard and
Samantha Hayward picked up a 6-3 win to give the Jags the doubles point.
Things changed in singles play as Milwaukee won the No. 2 match against Ochalik (6-4, 6-4) and No. 3 match against Lounsbury (6-3, 7-6(3)) to take a 2-1 lead. Pessina knotted up the match at two with a win at No. 4 (7-6(4), 6-1). Stankovic fell in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-0) to put Milwaukee one win away from the match victory. The Panthers finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over
Krystal Grubb in the No. 5 match.

IUPUI will close out its home schedule with a match against Green Bay on Sunday morning (April 14) at 9 a.m. at the West Indy Racquet Club.
