HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – IUPUI men's tennis picked up a win in its first Horizon League contest of the season with a 5-2 win over Northern Kentucky on Friday (Mar. 29).
Things got off to a good start for IUPUI (11-6, 1-0 Horizon) as the
Bradley Luetschwager and
Kyle Whittaker teamed up for a 6-1 win in the No. 2 doubles match. The Jags took home the doubles point as
Sean Bailey and
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono took the No. 3 match 6-4.
Alex Jochim and
Colton Morehart's No. 1 match was ended with the teams tied 5-5.
To begin singles play, Luetschwager gave the Jags their second point of the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5. After Northern Kentucky got its first point with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2, Jochim's 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 1 match pulled the Jags within one point of the match win.
Morehart closed out the match for IUPUI, taking his No. 3 match 6-4, 6-3. The other Jaguar point of the match came in the No. 6 singles match as
Eric Hollingsworth won 6-2, 7-5.
IUPUI will be back in action Saturday (Mar. 30) against Wright State beginning at 1 p.m.
