MUNCIE, Ind. - IUPUI men's tennis fell to an Indiana non-conference foe for the second-straight match, dropping its match to Ball State 6-1 on Wednesday (Mar. 27). The Jags picked up one singles win but could not get anything else going against the Cardinals.
IUPUI fell behind quickly in the doubles competition with Ball State taking a 6-0 win in the No. 1 match. The Cardinals then captured the doubles point with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 match.
Ball State then used a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Mikel Saavedra in the No. 6 singles match to score the first singles point. With a 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 against
Sean Bailey, the Cardinals pulled within one point of closing out the match.
Colton Morehart was beaten 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match as the match ended with Ball State up 4-0.Â
The Jags lone win came in the No. 1 match with
Alex Jochim taking the match 6-3, 6-4. As the teams finished out play,
Eric Hollingsworth was beaten for the first time in nine matches, falling 6-3, 7-5.
Bradley Luetschwager went to three sets after winning the first set 6-4 but lost his next two sets 6-4, 6-1.
