INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis fell for the fourth-consecutive match, losing 7-0 to Akron on Saturday (Mar. 2).
The Jags dropped all three doubles matches with the closest contest being a 6-4 loss at No. 1 by the duo of
Krystal Grubb and
Gabrielle Ochalik. Akron quickly earned the doubles point winning the No. 2 match 6-1 and No. 3 match 6-2.
In singles play, straight set wins at No. 1, No. 6, No. 2 and No. 3 earned the Zips the win over the Jags. IUPUI did force two three set matches but ultimately fell in the final set in both contests. At the No. 4 spot,
Mariella Pessina lost the first set 6-1 but won set two 6-3, before falling 6-2 in the final frame.
Meghan Bernard took the first set of her No. 5 match 6-1 but fell 6-0, 6-4 in the last two sets.
IUPUI will hit the road for its next two matches beginning with a trip to DeKalb, Ill., to meet up against Northern Illinois on Saturday (Mar. 9) at 9 a.m.
