Riding a three-game winning streak, the IUPUI women's soccer (8-3-1, 2-1 HL) will head north to take on Detroit Mercy (2-6-2, 0-1-1 HL) on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 1:00 p.m. in Horizon League action. Head coach

- IUPUI's seven wins before Oct. 1 are tied for the third most in program history. The 2017 squad, which won the Horizon League Tournament, had 10 wins heading into the month of October, while the 2009 squad, which won The Summit League Tournament, won eight matches prior to Oct. 1. The 2016 squad also won seven matches prior to Oct. 1 en route to a 9-7-3 finish.
- Freshman Autumn Weeks is coming off a monster performance as she tallied a pair of goals in the Jaguars' 2-1 win over UIC earlier this week. UIC had yielded just four goals all season long before Weeks hit them twice for scores.
- Elizabeth Bueckers and Valentine Pursey are tied for the team lead in goals (4). Pursey has a team-high 13 points (4 goals, 5 assists) and both Pursey and Bueckers have a game-high two game-winners.
- Pursey earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week award on Sept. 16 after contributing to four of the Jaguars' six goals in 3-1 wins over Belmont and Valparaiso. Pursey had two assists in the Jaguars' 3-1 win over Belmont and followed with two goals in the win at Valpo, including the game-winner. It was her fourth career multi-goal game as she moved her career totals to 21 goals and 11 game-winners.
- Redshirt freshman AP Woodall was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9, recording a 1.00 goals against average and .875 save percentage in the Jaguars' contests against EKU (Sept. 5) and Central Michigan (Sept. 8). She dialed up a scoreless half in the win over EKU and yielded her first goal of the year on a PK in the Jaguars' 2-1 loss at CMU, snapping her personal scoreless streak at 276 minutes to start her career.
- For the season, Woodall has allowed just two goals in 470 minutes, good for a 0.38 goals against average.
- The win at Valparaiso was the 200th of the career of head coach Chris Johnson. Johnson has won 119 matches on the Jaguars' sidelines and collected 81 wins at UIndy from 1994-2002. Johnson is the program's all-time leader in wins (120) and has taken IUPUI to two NCAA Tournaments (2009 & 2017).
- IUPUI is 8-3-1 on the season, having blanked six opponents this year. The Jags have shutout Toledo, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville and Youngstown State this year and yielded just 11 goals in 12 games.
- IUPUI is 3-0 this season against Missouri Valley Conference foes with road wins at SIU, Valpo and Evansville.
- Beside Bueckers and Pursey, freshman Maya Lacognato (3 goals), junior back Natalie McNally (2 goals) and Weeks (2 goals) also have multiple goals. Pursey leads the team with five assists while Ricks, Emma Chambers and Megan Wurth have two apiece.
- Pursey has moved into sixth on the program's all-time list with 21 career goals, 11 of which have been game-winners.
- The Jaguars was picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League preseason polls
- Senior goalkeeper Sophia Lipka registered her 18th career shutout in the season opening win over Toledo, putting her three shy of tying IUPUI Hall of Famer Jamie Farrell's all-time record of 21.
- Junior defender Natalie McNally has played a team-high 1,039 minutes in the defensive third this season, 100 more than Pursey's 903, which ranks second on the team. McNally has played 93 percent of the team's minutes so far this season.
- The Jags return their top four scorers from a season ago in Elizabeth Bueckers (14 pts), Ricks (11), Pursey (10) and Emma Chambers (8).
- Lipka was the 2017 Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and is on pace to break the program's all-time record in shutouts.
- IUPUI returns 10 of 11 starters from last season, including the quintet of Lipka, Pursey, Chambers, McNally and Jenna Sterr, who started all 19 matches a season ago.
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
- Detroit Mercy is 2-6-2 overall and 0-1-1 in Horizon League play. The Titans have victories over Madonna and Indiana State and draws with Northwood and Green Bay.
- Detroit Mercy is 0-2-2 at home this season.
- Julie Ann Piechocki leads the UDM attack with two goals, including a game-winner, and five total points. Hailey Wentzloff has a team-high two assists. Sofia Bellaire also has a game-winner on the season.
- In goal, Cassidy Joslin has played the bulk of the team's minutes, having posted a 1.42 goals against average and 35 saves in 507 minutes. Cece Muskovac has a 2.30 GAA and 28 stops in 431 minutes of work.
