VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS SWEEP AT MILWAUKEE

IUPUI's offense could not get going against Milwaukee as the Jags lost their fifth-straight match.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – IUPUI volleyball lost its fifth-straight match, falling in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-17) at Milwaukee on Friday (Oct. 18). The Jags finished with just 18 kills on the night, led by five from McKayla Wright.

IUPUI (6-14, 2-5 Horizon) hit .000 for the night on offense, tallying 18 kills and finishing with 18 errors. After Wright's five kills, Maddie Dean and Allie Pogue finished with four and Haley Hoffman and Kaitlyn Johnson each had two.

On defense, IUPUI finished with 30 digs, led by 11 from Rhiannon Schuenemann. Both Regan Trueblood and Rebecca Schlechte each had five. The Jags did finish with eight blocks on the night with Hoffman collecting five to lead the team. Wright and Corrissa Remter each finished with three blocks.

The Jags struggled stopping Milwaukee (19-2, 6-1 Horizon) as the Panthers hit .310 as a team. Milwaukee's two top hitters, Carmen Heilemann and Ari Miller, each posted 11 kills and both players hit .421.
IUPUI fell behind big in the first set, going down 10-2 early and were never able to get any closer than four in the set.

In set two, the Jags were down one at 7-6 after a Hoffman kill but Milwaukee scored seven of the next eight points to take control of the set. Milwaukee ended the set on another 7-1 run after IUPUI got within 18-10.

The Jags jumped out 4-0 to start set three but gave up a 10-1 run before eventually getting back within one at 13-12 on a Johnson kill. Twice more, IUPUI got within one but after getting within one at 18-17 Milwaukee ripped off the last seven points of the set to end the match.

IUPUI will play at UIC tomorrow at 5 p.m. Eastern to close out the first half of the Horizon League schedule.
