MICHIGAN CITY, Mich. – IUPUI women's tennis picked up its first win of the season, sweeping Valparaiso 7-0 on Sunday (Jan. 27).
 
The Jags (1-2) began the match with Christina Stankovic and Krystal Grubb winning 6-1 in the No. 1 match. After dropping the No. 2 match, IUPUI earned the doubles point as Valparaiso had to forfeit the No. 3 match.
 
IUPUI only needed to win one more singles match to earn the match win after No. 5 and No. 6 were again forfeited by the Crusaders but the Jags took care of business winning the other four singles matches, all in two sets.
 
Stankovic clinched the match win with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 2 singles match and Meghan Bernard followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4. Gabrielle Ochalik earned a 6-4, 6-4 win playing in the top spot and Sarah Lounsbury finished off the sweep with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win at No. 3.
 
IUPUI will be off until Wednesday, Feb. 6 when the Jaguars will play host to the University of Indianapolis for their home opener at 1 p.m.
