LEXINGTON, Ky. – IUPUI men's tennis began its season with a 7-0 defeat at the University of Kentucky on Sunday (Jan. 13).

IUPUI fell in every match in doubles play but the freshmen duo of Alex Jochim and Colton Morehart took the most games in their doubles match, falling 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles match. At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Sean Bailey and Ethan Mardanus-Budiono lost 6-2 and Rodney Steven and Kyle Whittaker fell 6-0 in the No. 3 match.

Jochim had the most success in singles play almost taking the first set in the No. 2 match, falling in set on 7-6, before losing 6-4 in the second. Both Mardanus-Budiono and Michael Koch each won five games in their matches with Mardanus-Budiono falling 6-2, 6-3 and Koch losing 6-3, 6-2.

In the remaining matches, Bailey lost the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1, while Morehart fell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. Eric Hollingsworth dropped his No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-1.

The Jaguars will be off until Friday, Jan. 25 when IUPUI will play two home matches, beginning the day against Marian at Noon and finishing against Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m.
