OXFORD, Ohio – IUPUI Volleyball hits the road for the weekend with three matches at the Bobcat Invitational at Ohio University. The Jags will face off against two new foes on Friday (Sept. 7).
IUPUI (2-5) will begin the weekend with a match on Friday against Virginia Tech at 12:30 p.m. and finish the day against Samford at 5 p.m. It will be the first time that IUPUI has ever played Virginia Tech and Samford. The Jags will conclude the tournament with a match at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 8) against the host Ohio.
HICKEY EARNS WEEKLY HONORS
Freshman
Rachel Hickey earned her first Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 6.46 digs per set in four matches last week. Hickey reached double-digit digs for the first time in her career with a 22-dig effort against Purdue Fort Wayne and bested that with a career-high 25 digs against Northern Arizona. Hickey leads the team with 4.33 digs per set.
GIBSON CONTINUES STRONG PLAY
Senior
Maggie Gibson continues to stuff the stat sheet for head coach
Steve Payne. Gibson is tops on the team with 3.46 kills per set and is second on the squad with 3.46 assists per set and 3.62 digs per set. In the seven matches this season, the senior has posted two triple-doubles, the most recent is a 15-kill, 23-assist, 16-dig effort against Western Michigan, while hitting a season-high .361. Gibson has finished with a double-double in four of the other five matches this year.

Elizabeth Scott is second on the team with 3.09 kills per set. Sophomore
Rebecca Schlechte has paced the offense this season with 6.71 assists per set. On the defensive end, junior
Haley Hoffman is tops on the squad with 1.12 blocks per set.
JAGS IN THE HORIZON
Six Jags sit in the top-ten in statistical categories in the Horizon League. Gibson and Scott and fourth and fifth in the league in kills per set, respectively. Schlechte is sixth in assists per set and freshman
Elli Gaskill is tenth with 0.33 service aces per set. On the defensive side, Hoffman is ninth in blocks per set and Hickey sits sixth in digs per set.
JAGS IN THE NCAA
IUPUI is third in the nation in team attacks per set, logging 42 attacks per set. The Jags are also tenth in the nation with 19.38 digs per set. Individually, Gibson's two triple-doubles are tied for the most in the country.
