INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI will have to wait one game longer to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Women's Basketball Tournament after falling short against Wright State, 66-63, on Friday night (Feb. 23).
Tamya Sims had a chance to tie the game but her three-point try was blocked as time expired, as Wright State handed IUPUI (20-8, 12-5 Horizon) their second-straight loss. It is the first time all season that IUPUI has lost two games.
In a back-and-forth game, the fourth quarter was no different with Wright State (20-9, 11-6 Horizon) using an 8-0 run midway through the fourth to take a seven point lead. IUPUI put together a run of their own last with
Macee Williams hitting a three-point play and Sims hitting two free throws to pull the Jags within one. After Chelsea Welch hit two free throws to put Wright State up three with two second left, the defense for the Raiders held to earn the win.
Sydney Hall led the Jags with 19 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots and going 4-for-7 from three point range. It was the first time in four games that Hall has reached double figures and her highest point total since scoring 19 against Detroit Mercy on January 11.
Williams posted her sixth double-double of the season scoring 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and pulling down 10 rebounds. The Jags finished with four in double-digits as Sims and

The Jags took a 5-4 lead early in the first quarter after a three-point play by Hall but Wright State took the lead 20 seconds later and the Jags would continue to play catch up for over the next quarter and a half.
Wright State would maintain the lead until a three by Hall with 1:43 left in the second quarter. Two free throws by Lawrence right before the half put the Jags up one at the break.
