LAWRENCE SHINES IN JAGS WIN OVER OAKLAND

Jaguars earn the season sweep over Oakland as Danielle Lawrence scores 29 points.

ROCHESTER, Mich. – After another huge game from Danielle Lawrence, IUPUI remained in the hunt for top-spot in the Horizon League with a dominating 73-55 win over Oakland.

IUPUI (19-6, 11-3 Horizon) never trailed on route to its second-straight win and sixth in its last eight games. The Jags earned their 12th road victory of the season, a new school-high. The Jags sit just one game back in the standings of Green Bay and hold a 1.5 game lead for the No. 2 seed.

Danielle Lawrence led IUPUI with 29 points and in the process, moved in to fourth on the IUPUI all-time scoring list.  Lawrence went 11-for-18 from the field and 3-for-7 from the three-point line. Lawrence scored 29 after posting 28 in IUPUI's last win over Cleveland State. It was the ninth time this season the Lawrence has finished with 20+ points and her tenth-straight game in double figures.

"[Danielle] is definitely a top-three player in the Horizon, maybe the best player in the league," said head coach #Austin Parkinson. "I have just been really proud, with her senior year winding down, the way she is playing."

"It feels great [to be scoring like that]," said Lawrence. "Our gameplan is to get the ball up the court in transition and [Coach Parkinson] lets me play with a lot of freedom. That just boosts my confidence and I put the ball in the hole."

Macee Williams posted her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

"She is a big part of our team," said Lawrence. "I love playing with her. Every time that I shoot, I know if I miss she is gonna get the ball and put it back in the hoop."

"The guards did a really good job of diving and my defender would collapse on them so if they missed I was there for the rebound," said Williams.

The Jags took control of the matchup with Oakland (11-14, 4-10 Horizon) with a 10-0 run that spanned the end of the second and beginning of the third that pushed the lead to 18. IUPUI used six free throws during the run and finished with 32 free throws to just four for the Golden Grizzlies as IUPUI was the aggressor most of the night.

IUPUI increased the lead 23 in the fourth quarter after a Tamya Sims layup but Oakland continued to battle, as IUPUI went cold from the field. The lead got as low as 14, but Lawrence scored her 29th point and Sims added a free throw to but the Jags back in control.

Sims also finished in double-figures with 13 points, hitting a team-high six free throws.

The Jags started the game strong, beginning on a 9-2 run. Oakland battled back to tie the quarter at 12 but Lawrence scored five-straight points with Allen hitting two free throws as IUPUI closed the first quarter on a 7-0 run.

The Jags put the clamps down on Oakland's Leah Summerfield, who finished with just two points on 1-for9 shooting.
