QUOTABLE: "We knew going it they'd be a hard team but our girls didn't shut down. My defense played solid as always and played as tough as they could with all of the players that ISU threw forward. It's always nice to be able to have games where I can back up my defense like they do for me every other time. That's the kind of heart we need every game moving forward," Lipka said following the 4-0 shutout at Illinois State.
MAKING THE GRADE: IUPUI was recognized on Wednesday (Oct. 4) with the United Soccer Coaches 2017-18 College Team Academic Award. To qualify, a team must have a collective GPA of 3.0 or better. IUPUI was one of 192 programs (four in the HL) to be honored on both the men's and women's sides.
SCOUTING WSU: Wright State is 4-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Horizon League play, but has gone 4-1-1 over the past six outings. Aaliyah Patten has a team-high three goals and three assists while Mattie Cutts has a goal and three assists on the year. Maddie Jewell has started all 12 games with a 1.87 goals against average and .667 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES: IUPUI is 1-7 all-time against Wright State as last year's 4-3 victory over the Raiders was the first in program history. Pursey had a hat trick in last year's win while Ricks also scored in that contest.
Krissy Kirkhoff tied the school record with three assists in that game and
Skylar England earned the victory in goal.
NEXT UP: IUPUI will take on Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Carroll Stadium on ESPN3.
