INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's volleyball returns home for two games over the weekend as the Jags play host to Wright State and Northern Kentucky.
On Friday (Oct. 12), IUPUI will take on the Wright State Raiders in the Jaguars annual Dig Pink match in support of the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer research. The match against the Raiders will be broadcast on ESPN+ and will begin at 6 p.m.
IUPUI will finish its weekend with a match against Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Jags enter the weekend tied for fifth in the Horizon League with a 2-4 record in conference play after dropping two matches last week. IUPUI will be looking for its first home win of the conference season and is looking to break a four-match home losing streak.
IUPUI remains the second-best dig/set team in the NCAA with 19.58 digs per frame but are allowing opponents to dig 21.14 digs per set. On the season IUPUI is hitting just .144 with
Abby Boatman (.341) the only Jaguar hitting over .200. Boatman is also second on the team with 2.65 kills per set, trailing fellow senior
Maggie Gibson's 2.97, which is fourth in the Horizon League.
Elizabeth Scott and
Maddie Dean are next on the squad with 2.64 and 2.11 kills per set, respectively. Since taking over as the primary setter, Schlechte has increased her assists per set to 7.32.
The Jaguar defense has been led by
Rachel Hickey with 3.86 digs per set but three other Jaguars are just behind Hickey.
Rhiannon Schuenemann is averaging 3.83 digs per set, followed by Gibson (3.57) and Schlechte (3.08). With the return of Boatman at the beginning of conference play, IUPUI has increased its blocks per set to 2.03 as the Jags are blocking at a 2.55 per set clip during Horizon League action. In the six Horizon League games this year, three Jaguars are blocking more than one block per set, led by
Haley Hoffman (1.30). Boatman is following Hoffman at 1.15 and Gibson is at 1.08. Schlechte is just behind at .90 blocks per frame.
WRIGHT STATE (9-9, 1-5 Horizon)

Wright State has struggled to begin conference play, only beating UIC in the second game of the conference season. The Raiders are sitting at eighth in the Horizon with a .133 hitting percentage in league play and allowing teams to hit .199, which is seventh in the league. Defense has been an issue for the Raiders who are averaging a league low 17.38 digs per set and 1.79 blocks per set.
Abby Barcus leads the team with 2.87 kills per set but has only appeared in half of the matches this year. Celia Powers is second on the team with 2.70 and Teddie Sauer is third at 2.44. Jenna Story is tops on the squad on the defensive end with 4.41 digs per set.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY (12-5, 4-2)

Northern Kentucky dropped its last match in a five-set loss to UIC after beginning conference play with a 4-1 record. The Norse are the top hitting team in the Horizon League for the season, tied with Green Bay at .196. Northern Kentucky also leads the Horizon League with 12.84 assists per set. On the defensive end, NKU is the top team in the NCAA with 20.06 digs per set and have increased that number to 20.30 in conference play.
Haley Libs is the leading offensive threat for the Norse and is second in the Horizon League with 4.19 kills per set. The offense runs through two different setters with Miranda Wucherer leading the team with 6.15 assists per set and Shelby Olsen at 5.52 per set.
On defense, Ashton Terrill leads the Horizon League with 5.88 digs per set and Libs is second on the team with 3.79.
