LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The IUPUI men's soccer team fell victim to one of the nation's elite as No. 10 Louisville tipped the Jaguars 3-0 at Lynn Stadium on Tuesday night (Sept. 19). The host Cardinals dominated the run of play, outshooting the Jaguars 25-2 and earning a 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Louisville (5-1-1) attacker Mohamed Thiaw netted the game-winner in the 21st minute and Tim Kubel and Cherif Dieye added second half insurance. Redshirt freshman Tyler Shanahan highlighted the Jaguars' efforts, recording nine saves in just his second career start in goal.

Thiaw put UofL up for good early, heading a shot between Shanahan and an IUPUI (0-6) defender off a corner kick. Louisville's Adam Wilson took the initial corner, which was headed back against the grain by Tate Schmitt. From there, Thiaw redirected a header through a small seam, giving Louisville an early 1-0 lead.

The Cards doubled the advantage in the 51st minute when Tim Kubel buried a penalty kick for his third score of the year. Dieye tallied a nifty goal in the 76th minute, beating Shanahan to the near post from distance after a feed from Izaiah Jennings.

IUPUI was held to just two shots, neither of which were dangerous. Sophomore Pedro Valladao fired well high of target in the second half and freshman Matthew Skaar hit a shot right of target in the 64th minute after senior Uriel Macias had done well to settle a 50/50 ball and play the rookie's feet.

IUPUI will return to action this weekend when the Jaguars take on Northern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 23).
