MEN'S SOCCER SHUTOUT ON THE ROAD AT OAKLAND

Jags slide to 0-5 with 3-0 loss at Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The IUPUI men's soccer team was unable to find the mark on Saturday night (Sept. 16) as the Jaguars were dumped at Oakland in Horizon League play, 3-0.

Oakland (2-5, 1-1 Horizon) got the game-winner in the 13th minute from Nyal Higgins and added second half insurance on scores from Nebojsa Popovic and Austin Ricci. IUPUI (0-5, 0-2 Horizon) was limited to just four shot attempts, three of which came from senior Uriel Macias

Redshirt freshman Tyler Shanahan made his IUPUI debut in goal, recording five saves in the loss.

In the 13th minute, Noah Jensen setup Higgins with a free kick and the Oakland attacker headed a shot into the left side of the net.

In the 66th minute, Popovic blasted a shot past Shanahan from distance for his third score of the year, giving the hosts some breathing room. In the 79th minute, Ricci took a feed from Travis Harrington and beat the keeper from just inside the 18-yard box.

Oakland closed with a 15-4 shot advantage and 8-2 edge on corner kicks.

Junior attacker Sean Siasia had IUPUI's other shot attempt in the 26th minute, pushing a header wide of target.

OU's Sullivan Lauderdale didn't have to record a save in registering the shutout.

IUPUI will be back in action on Tuesday night (Sept. 19) when the Jaguars trek south to face nationally ranked Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3.
