WOMEN'S SOCCER LOOKS TO REBOUND AT OAKLAND

Jaguars had 12-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday

Live Stats I ESPN3

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Coming off a loss for the first time since late August, the IUPUI women's soccer team will look for a rebound effort at Oakland on Saturday (Oct. 21) when the Jaguars face the Golden Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. The Jaguars were blitzed at Milwaukee on Wednesday, falling to the host Panthers 6-0. IUPUI (13-4, 6-1 Horizon) yielded five first half goals, including four in less than 10 minutes, and never put up much of a fight.

UWM, which remains one of the nation's two unbeaten squads, outshot the Jaguars 24-7 overall and had an 11-1 corner kick advantage, snapping the Jaguars' 12-game winning streak. IUPUI's 12 straight wins tied the program's all-time record, also accomplished during the 2009 season.

Senior Krissy Kirkhoff leads the team with 20 points (5 goals, 10 assists) and 61 shot attempts while Pursey has a team-high eight goals and five game-winners. Senior Hayley Shelton has been a disruptive force in the midfield with four goals and seven assists while Jessica Flores and Miranda Ricks have three scores each.

Defensively, Lipka has a 0.63 goals against average with 62 saves in her 14 starts, which includes a school record nine shutouts. Freshman Skylar England has a 3.33 GAA and 10 saves in her three starts in net with a 2-1 record.

Freshman back Natalie McNally continues to lead the Jags with 1,434 minutes played in the defensive third. She and sophomore Jenna Sterr are the only two Jaguars to start all 17 matches along the back line.

KIRKHOFF HONORED: Coming off a week in which she posted two goals and three assists, Kirkhoff was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week.

HAT TRICKS: Pursey posted the eighth hat trick in school history in the 4-3 win over Wright State and is the seventh player in school history to score three goals in a game. That list includes Sarah Leonard, Karrie Reising (twice), Cat Raster, Tori Minnich, Kirkhoff and Tara Latella. It was the first hat trick by an IUPUI player in league play since Sarah Leonard scored three goals against Youngstown State in October 2001.

KIRKHOFF TAKES OVER: Kirkhoff recently took over as the program's all-time points leader with her two-goal performance against Fort Wayne. The Indianapolis-native now has 77 career points (28 goals, 21 assists), surpassing the previous mark of 74 held by Megan Hock (2008-11). Kirkhoff also holds the program's all-time record for assists (21) while Shelton is currently second all-time with 18.

TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD: IUPUI captured the program's eighth straight United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Team Academic Award on Oct. 5. It's the 12th time in program history the Jags have been recognized and the program's 3.72 grade point average ranked third among the nation's Division I programs.

SCOUTING OAKLAND: Oakland is 2-13-1 overall and 2-5 in Horizon League play this season. The Golden Grizzlies come in having lost three-in-a-row, all by shutout to Milwaukee, Wright State and Northern Kentucky. Ali Amante and Lauren Bos lead the Oakland attack with two goals and an assist each with each having scored a game-winner this season. Ashley Postma has a team-high three assists. Defensively, Sophia Braun has played just more than half of the team's minutes in goal, registering a 2.29 goals against average and 34 saves in her 10 appearances. Nadine Maher has a 2.09 GAA and 27 saves in her eight appearances.

INSIDE THE SERIES: IUPUI is just 3-14 all-time against former league foe Oakland with the 14 losses being the most against any opponent in program history. IUPUI is just 1-7 in the meetings in Rochester with the lone win having come in 2008. The Golden Grizzlies have won the past four meetings, all having come in succession from 2010-13 prior to Oakland moving to the Horizon League.

UP NEXT: IUPUI will return home to host Northern Kentucky on Friday night (Oct. 27) at 7:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium. The match will have serious seeding implications as both NKU and the Jaguars are near the top of the Horizon League standings. The Jaguars will recognize the senior group of Sarah Jacobs, Krissy Kirkhoff, Hannah MarchVal Ostrowski, Beth Parks, Leia Peterman and Hayley Shelton immediately following that contest.
