INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will commence Summit League play on Friday night (Sept. 23) when the Jaguars welcome Western Illinois (3-4-1, 0-0 Summit) to Michael A. Carroll Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The match is IUPUI's regular season home opener and admission is FREE for IUPUI students with a valid JagTag. In addition, the IUPUI Athletics Department will be hosting a pregame
men's soccer alumni event, allowing FREE admission to former men's soccer players. Otherwise, adult tickets are just $5.
IUPUI hasn't played on its home field since hosting preseason matches against UIC and Evansville at Carroll Stadium in August.
QUOTABLE
"I've told the defense they have to be perfect 100 percent of the time whereas the attack just needs to complete the task of scoring a goal once or twice to be successful. On a night where we faced 36 shots and faced constant pressure, they were pretty darn close to perfect." first-year Head Coach
Brian Barnett said following the Jaguars' 2-0 loss at No. 4 Indiana on Tuesday night (Sept. 20).
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IUPUI comes in at 0-6 on the season with all six losses coming on the road. The Jaguars have gotten goals from
Jordan Parron and
Uriel Macias and rookie midfielder
Pedro Valladao has IUPUI's lone assist.
Sophomore
Josh Gray has started five of the team's six matches in goal and has a 3.20 goals against average and 30 saves. He earned a career-high eight saves at Indiana on Tuesday night. Redshirt freshman
James Mitchison made the other start and has four saves on the year.
Sophomore back
Ben Thornton leads the team in minutes played, having played all 540 thus far. Fellow sophomore
Nick Anderson is second on the squad with 491 minutes played. All total, 17 different Jaguars have started at least one match this season and Anderson and Thornton are the only two to have started all six thus far.
SCOUTING WESTERN ILLINOIS (3-4-1 overall, 0-0 Summit)
Western Illinois is 3-4-1 on the year and had won three straight matches before losing to Bradley earlier this week. The Fighting Leathernecks have wins over Bowling Green, Mt. Mercy and Kansas City this season, all at home.
Jacob Bevan has a team-high five goals in eight games and leads The Summit League with 12 points. Fernando Pacheco has three goals and three assists and Daniel Collins has a pair of goals and three assists.
In goal, Tim Hansen has played in five matches, making four starts with a 1.24 goals against average and 25 saves with a 3-2-0 record. Tim Trilk has made four starts with a 2.58 GAA and 11 stops.
INSIDE THE SERIES
IUPUI is 10-9-2 all-time against Western Illinois after having lost in Macomb a season ago, 2-1. Then-junior midfielder

ALUMNI WEEKEND
Tonight's match marks the start of Alumni Weekend as former players will be admitted for FREE and later recognized on the field at halftime. On Saturday, the team will host a meet-and-greet, followed by attending the Indy Eleven vs. New York Cosmos at 7:30 p.m. at Carroll Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
IUPUI dropped a 2-0 count to No. 4 Indiana on Tuesday night in a contest in which they were outshot 36-2. The Jaguars had their chances as
