Live Stats I Live Video

EDWARDSVILLE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's soccer team will be back on the road again on Tuesday night (Oct. 4) when the Jaguars face SIUE at 8:00 p.m. Eastern at Korte Stadium. The Jags have opened with seven of nine matches on the road, playing just two home games in the season's first two months.

IUPUI has played better of late, getting Head Coach Brian Barnett's first career victory with a 2-0 win over Northern Illinois before falling 3-1 at Omaha on Saturday.

QUOTABLE

"We were tired of losing. That was it, we were tired of losing," said junior Uriel Macias following the 2-0 win over Northern Illinois on Sept. 28.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS

IUPUI comes in at 1-8 on the season with seven of the eight losses coming on the road. Junior Uriel Macias leads the team in goals (3), points (6), shots (16) and shots on goal (5) while juniors Joshua Ayala and Jordan Parron have the team's other goals. Ayala and freshman Pedro Valladao have a team-high two assists on the season.
Sophomore Josh Gray has started eight of the team's nine matches in goal and has a 2.62 goals against average and 40 saves. Redshirt freshman James Mitchison made the other start and has four saves on the year.
Sophomore back Ben Thornton leads the team in minutes played, having played 808 of a possible 810 thus far. Fellow sophomore Nick Anderson is second among field players with 684 minutes and Kayode Tyler is third among field players with 649 minutes. With his start against NIU, freshman Nathan Silva became the 18th different Jaguars to have started at least one match this season. Only Anderson and Thornton have started all nine matches this season.

SCOUTING SIUE (3-4-2 overall, 2-1-2 home)
SIUE is 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-2 in five home matches. Devyn Jambga leads SIUE with three goals and seven points while Austin Ledbetter has two goals on the year. Greg Solawa leads the Cougars with three assists as SIUE has been outscored 10-8 on the year.
Defensively, Kyle Dal Santo has started all nine matches in net and has a 1.03 goals against average and 35 saves with a .778 save percentage and two shutouts.

INSIDE THE SERIES
IUPUI is 1-1 all-time against SIUE in a series that began in 2009. SIUE won the first meeting on Oct. 3, 2009 in Indianapolis by a 1-0 score before the Jags repaid the favor with a 2-1 win in Edwardsville on Sept. 19, 2010.

LAST TIME OUT
IUPUI is coming off a 3-1 loss at Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 1 to slip to 0-2 in Summit League play. The host Mavs built a quick 2-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes before Ayala cut the margin in half with his first goal of the year.
However, the Jags just missed knotting the score when senior Cristian Soto ripped a shot off the crossbar midway through the first half and the Mavs added insurance on a restart early in the second half on way to a 3-1 win.

UP NEXT

IUPUI will return home to host No. 8 Denver on Friday night (Oct. 7) at 7:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium.
