MEN HOST WABASH, WOMEN WELCOME YSU TO CAP REGULAR SEASON

Jaguars to host duals on Friday (Jan. 22) and Saturday (Jan. 23)

1/21/2016 6:25:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host duals this weekend to cap the regular season as a final primer ahead of the upcoming Summit League Championships. The men will swim against Wabash College on Friday night (Jan. 22) at 6:00 p.m. before the women mix it up with Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 23) at 2:00 p.m.. Admission will be of free of charge while standard university parking rates may apply.

Live results will be available via IUPUIJags.com for both duals.

The men's team is coming off an impressive road win at Green Bay last weekend as the Jaguars dispatched the Phoenix 130-112 to improve to 4-1 in duals this season. IUPUI showed impressive depth and versatility last weekend, getting superior distance swims from freshman Ben Levart and strong sprints from Jared Allen, Aaron Brysch and Lennart Kuester. Kuester ranks among the league's best in 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events while Brysch has excelled in the 50 free and 100 backstroke. Jon Stoller has emerged as one of The Summit League's elite in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 and 400 IM.

The quartet of Brysch, Kuester, Trenton Wolfe and Allen capped the win over Green Bay with a pool record in the 400 free relay, notching a time of 3:04.99.

On the boards, freshman Krisztian Somhegyi has been the best of the best, earning a league record five Summit League Diver of the Week awards. He and Mitch Matsey rank 1-2 in The Summit in 3-meter scores while Erik Romer and Josh Carmichael also rank among the league's best off the 1-meter board.

Whereas the men's team is seemingly peaking at the right time, Head Coach Matt Bos' women's team is piecing and patching together the home stretch as injuries and illness have ravaged the Jaguars' roster.

Alexis Bullard and Maranda Buha have been strong of late as both and Stephanie Krause had a hard earned victory in the 200 butterfly last weekend. Madison Taylor collected an individual win in the 100 free at 55.07 last week and Brittani Grove was just off her pace. Allison Cicero and Jordyn Harrison continue to swim well heading into the season's final month, as does veteran Mary Klueh.

The IUPUI diving duo of Melissa Berger and Bailey Wills will also have one last chance to post scores ahead of The Summit League Championships, which come to town in late February. Wills is coming off a season-high 276.30 off the 3-meter board at Green Bay while Berger turned in a score of 259.20.

Full results and recaps from the weekend's action will be posted to IUPUIJags.com after each day's events.
