INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI hits the road looking to add to its three game winning Friday, Oct. 30, before coming home for a matinee Sunday, Nov. 1.
The Jags take their league-leading 8-2 record, 17-7 overall, on the road to Brookings, S.D. for a Friday night match (8 p.m.) against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The Jackrabbits have lost three straight matches and are 2-8 in Summit League play and 3-23 overall.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. IUPUI took the first meeting 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) at home on Oct. 9. It was a match dominated by the Jags who hit .365 while holding SDSU to a .143 clip. Junior
Logan Walling led the way for the Jags with 15 kills and five blocks.
Mikala Hora leads South Dakota State on offense with 2.86 kps in 10 Summit League matches. As a team the Jackrabbits are 7
th in the league in hitting percentage at .153 and 8
th in kps at 11.08.
IUPUI will finish up the weekend coming home to host the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. ORU beat IUPUI in the first meeting of the season in Tulsa, Okla., 3-1 and had a share of the lead league but since have lost four of their last six matches. The Golden Eagles now sit at 6-4 in league play and 12-11 overall.
ORU is led by Laura Milos, whose 5.38 kps is highest in league play. Milos also lead the Golden Eagles and the Summit League in aces per set at .69. As a team Oral Roberts ranks fourth in the league, hitting at a .224 clip.
The Jags come in to the weekend coming off of two of their best defensive performances of the year. On Friday, Oct. 23, IUPUI beat Western Illinois with 15 blocks, at the time a season high for the Jags. They would out do themselves the next night with 19 blocks against IPFW in a five set win against the Mastodons. The 19 blocks set a school record for most in a match.
Because of their recent success on the block, the Jags now lead the Summit League with 2.50 blocks per set. Logan Walling, and sophomore
Abby Horn had 15 blocks the last two games to lead the team in the category and Walling is third in the Summit League with 1.24 blocks per set.
Offensively IUPUI is tops in the league at .268 in hitting percentage in league games. It also holds the top spot with 14.08 kps. Individually, the Jags are led by senior #Kaitlyn Hickey with 3.63 kps, good enough for fourth in the league, and sophomore #Kori Waelbroeck with 3.03 kps, who sits in sixth.

Hickey makes history With her tenth dig in the match against Fort Wayne on Saturday (Oct. 24), Kaitlyn Hickey became the first player in IUPUI and Summit League history to record 1,500 kills and 1,500 digs in her career. Hickey reached the mark for kills against North Dakota State earlier this season (Oct. 10). Hickey is the all-time leader for kills in a career at IUPUI (1,566) and is fourth in digs (1,504).
