INDIANAPOLIS – In what head coach Matt Bos knew would be a highly competitive meet, it was his seniors that led the IUPUI men's swimming and diving team to a victory over Green Bay Thursday evening at the IUPUI Natatorium on Senior Night.

The Jaguars needed a win in the final event, the 200 free relay, to earn the win over the Phoenix and seniors Adam Ferguson and Tony Carroll combined with freshman Aaron Brysch and sophomore Lennart Kuester to come away with a winning time of 1:24.26 to cement a 152.50-147.50 victory.

"This was a whole lot of fun. We knew going in that this would be tight racing all the way through and eventually we would have to step up and win some close races," head coach Bos said. "As a group we are on the right track and starting to see some real positives so we just need to stay focused as we start to come down in training this last part of the season."

The 200 medley relay quartet of Carroll, Landon Mintch, Ferguson and Kuester got IUPUI off to a strong start winning the event in 1:34.31, before Rich Sunkel took the top spot in the first individual event of the day, the 1,000 free, in 9:48.65.

Green Bay won the next four events, including sweeping the 200 fly, before Kuester got the Jags back in the win column in the 50 free swimming the two lengths in 21.46.

Kuester backed up his win in the 50 free with a win in the 100 free touching the wall in 46.69, and he was joined on the podium by Jared Allen whose time of 47.91 put him in third.

Two events later, Ferguson won the 200 breast in 2:05.28, which preceded a 1-2 finish in the 500 free led by Carroll's winning time of 4:41.56. Sunkel secured the runner-up spot in the 500 free with a time of 4:44.70.

Jon Stoller scored points in the 100 fly with a second-place time of 52.52, before Cody Watts put together a career-high six-dive total score of 346.80 in the 3-meter dive to win the event by 54.60 points. Isaac Stapleton tacked on more points in the event with a third-place score of 258.15.

Stoller then came through with a big win in the 400 IM to put the Jags in position to get the win in the final event which is exactly what they did in the 200 free relay registering nearly a second and a half victory.

Up next for the Jaguars is a meet in Muncie, Ind., against Ball State and Milwaukee on Friday, Jan. 23.
