INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off the program's first win over Notre Dame on Saturday, the IUPUI volleyball team looks to build off that momentum on Tuesday when it plays another in-state foe, Indiana State, in its home opener at The Jungle at 7 p.m.

The Jags come into the mid-week, non-conference contest with a 2-5 record, while the Sycamores enter at 5-2.

"We have played some really good teams these past few weeks and we have another tough one on Tuesday in Indiana State," head coach Steve Payne said. "Our team is excited to be playing in front of our home fans for the first time this season."

Beth Howard and Kaitlyn Hickey were both named to the Golden Dome Invitational All-Tournament Team after their performances against Washington State, Western Michigan and Notre Dame last weekend. Hickey was solid throughout the tournament averaging 2.70 kps, 2.90 dps and 0.50 bps, while Howard averaged 5.10 dps, which included a match-high 20-dig effort in the win over the Irish.

Kelly Wachtel again led the way offensively averaging 2.80 kps last week, but Gabby Fisher and Kori Waelbroeck ended up being the team's most effective hitters for the weekend hitting .417 and .250, respectively.

Indiana State has dropped two matches in a row after winning five straight to start the season. The Sycamores have been hitting at a high clip early in the season posting a .241 hitting percentage led by Cassandra Willis' .492. However, ISU has been successful because of its defense. Indiana State is giving up just 11.00 kps and its opponents are hitting just .152 on the season.

Tuesday will be the 23rd meeting all-time between the in-state rivals with the Sycamores owning a 15-7 lead in the series. The Jags, however, have won three straight in the series.
