INDIANAPOLIS - Seeking its first win of the season, the IUPUI women's soccer team will welcome SIU Edwardsville for the 2014 home opener on Friday (Aug. 29) night at Carroll Stadium before capping the two-game weekend at UIC for a match at Flames Field. Friday's match is slated to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. while Sunday's contest is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. CT).

The Jaguars are coming off a double overtime scoreless draw against former league foe Valparaiso on Sunday as freshman goalie Cat Schmidt earned the decision with 65 clean minutes in net. IUPUI had quality scoring chances in the second half but sophomore Alyssa Fox hit a rocket on frame right at the Valpo goalie in the 74th minute and rookie Krissy Kirkhoff had a shot rifle off the post in the 92nd minute.

IUPUI's (0-1-1) lone goal in the season's first two games was a PK score from senior Taylor Heidorn in a 3-1 loss at Green Bay, marking the tenth score of her collegiate career. With the goal, Heidorn became the eighth player in school history to hit double-digits scores in an IUPUI uniform. Kirkhoff and sophomore Meghan Day lead the IUPUI attack in shot attempts with three apiece after two games.

Defensively, Schmidt has a 0.82 goals against average in two appearances and sophomore Nicole Kulovitz has yielded a 2.00 GAA in her two matches played, while collecting a team-high nine saves.

IUPUI is 0-1 all-time against SIUE, having lost 2-0 in Edwardsville last season. The Cougars come in with a 1-0 record after defeating UIC 2-1 at home to start the season. Michelle Auer had SIUE's first goal and assisted Emily Grahl on the game-winner to key the Cougars' offense. Jennifer Pelley earned the win in goal, making two saves.

UIC is 0-3 to start the season, having lost to SIUE, Iowa and Northwestern to open play. The Flames have been outscored 12-1 in three games with Jasmin Carrera accounting for UIC's lone score thus far. Kelly Fritz has played the majority of the team's minutes in goal, posting a 4.28 goals against average and 12 saves in three matches.
