Live Stats BROOKINGS, S.D. – Following a three-match homestand, the IUPUI volleyball team hits the road on Halloween Night when it plays its lone match of the week in Brookings, S.D., against South Dakota State. Action is set to start at 8 p.m. ET.
The Jaguars are winners of six straight matches helping them improve to 14-11 overall and 8-2 in The Summit League. SDSU comes into the contest with a 6-21 overall mark, and a 0-10 record in league action.
Following Denver's loss at North Dakota State on Tuesday night, the Jaguars sit in a three-way tie for first place with the Pioneers and South Dakota.
"I told our team that it doesn't matter what our record is or what our opponent's record is. Anybody in this conference can beat anybody, especially when they play at home," head coach
Steve Payne said. "We have to treat every match the same and play to win."
During this recent win streak, IUPUI is hitting an impressive .265 compared to its .209 clip on the season, and over the last three matches its blocks per set average has risen to 2.91 bps which is 0.89 bps above its season average. Additionally, over the last six matches the Jaguars have been the aggressor behind the service line tallying 36 aces.
Kaitlyn Hickey continues to pace the team offensively averaging 3.58 kps, but her production in league-only action has risen to 4.10 kps thanks in part to a .282 hitting percentage.
Defensively,
Gabby Fisher leads the way in blocking in league-only matches with 0.82 bps, and
Beth Howard's 4.36 dps rank fourth in the conference.
Tiara Gibson is the top hitter for South Dakota State with 2.26 kps in Summit League action, and defensively Alanna Pengilly leads the conference in digs at 4.71 dps.
Friday's match-up will be the 16th meeting between IUPUI and South Dakota State with the Jaguars owning a 9-6 lead in the series. The Jags took the first meeting this year, 3-0, thanks in part to double-figure kills from Hickey,
Kelly Wachtel and
Logan Walling.
