INDIANAPOLIS – The dual meet portion of the 2014-15 schedule started Friday evening for the IUPUI men's swimming and diving squad and the Jags depth led them to a 142-63 win over Eastern Illinois.

The Jags picked up seven individual victories and two relay wins, with freshman Jon Stoller emerging as IUPUI's lone multi-event winner.

"It was good to get our first meet under our belts. All in all we weren't as sharp as I would have liked, but that is not that uncommon for this time of year," head coach Matt Bos said. "We are excited to be heading up to Purdue tomorrow. Hopefully we can be more aggressive up there."

The evening started on a positive note with Tony Carroll, Landan Mintch, Stoller and Jared Allen teaming up for a win in the 400 medley relay, and that was followed by the first individual victory in the 1,000 freestyle. Rich Sunkel posted a time of 9:54.14 in the 40-lap event to win by almost eight seconds.

Sunkel's win was followed by wins from Lennart Kuester in the 200 free, Aaron Brysch in the 50 free and Stoller in the 400 IM. The streak of wins were broken by EIU's Harris Thompson, but it wouldn't stop the Jags from earning three more individual wins.

Allen got the Jaguars back in the winner's circle by touching the wall first in the 100 free, before Carroll joined in on the fun with a victory in the 200 back over Brysch with a time of 1:54.58.

Another Thomson win came in the 500 free, but the individual events ended on a positive note with Stoller winning the 200 breast in 2:09.70.

Similar to how the meet started, Carroll, Adam Ferguson, Sunkel and Kuester collaborated for a win in the 400 freestyle relay to finish off the win.

The Jaguars do not have much time to enjoy the win as they will hop on a bus Saturday morning and make their way up to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Intercollegiates.
