INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a win in its final match of the 2013 IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational over Florida Gulf Coast, the IUPUI volleyball team looks to build upon that win when it heads to nearby Butler to take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m.

Tuesday's meeting between the local rivals will be the 26th meeting all-time between the schools, with Butler owning a 17-8 edge in the all-time series.

"It was tough losing a pair of five-set matches to start the season, but we bounced back well with a good win over Florida Gulf Coast and hopefully we can use what we learned this weekend and build off that on Tuesday," head coach Steve Payne said. "Butler is coming off a great start to the season winning its first three matches, and Tuesday will definitely be a challenge."

Butler went down to Cincinnati and won the UC Invitational defeating the tournament host Bearcats, Morehead State and Tennessee. All six of the Bulldogs' hitters hit over .225 for the weekend, led by Erica Stahl's .353 clip. Belle Obert paced the offense averaging 3.20 kps, but the Butler defense was the main reason for the tournament victory.

The Bulldogs averaged 17.20 dps for the weekend, but outblocked their opponents a combined 35.5 to 7.0. Three players averaged over 1.40 bps, led by Stahl's 1.80 bps.

The Jags were led during their home tournament by Alexis Meeks, who averaged 10.08 aps, 2.31 dps and posted four aces en route to claiming all-tournament honors. Moriah Fair paced the offensive attack averaging 4.08 kps, while Kaitlyn Hickey averaged 3.46 kps after posting a match-high 15 kills in a three-set win over Florida Gulf Coast.

One of the more impressive areas for the Jaguars this past weekend was their serving. IUPUI tallied 22 aces, with a team-high seven coming from Meredith Farkas and an additional five coming from Logan Walling, who made her debut as a Jag this past weekend.
