INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will look to continue its home shutout streak when the Jaguars host Ball State (Sept. 20) and Butler (Sept. 22) over the weekend. On Friday, IUPUI will participate in United Way Night at 7:00 p.m. against Ball State before Sunday's Butler match will be televised locally on Hometown Sports & News (HTSN) with Greg Rakestraw on the call. Sunday will also be High School Day as the women's soccer program has invited a number of Central Indiana high schools to attend the match.

Like always, admission is free as standard university parking rates apply

IUPUI (3-2-2) has blanked its last two opponents and three-in-a-row at home, lowering the team's goals against average to 0.67 on the season. Starting goalkeeper Giselle Guzman has yielded just four scores in her seven starts and freshman reserve Nicole Kulovitz has a 0.45 GAA after allowing just one goal in 200 minutes. The goalie duo has benefited greatly from the strong play of Kristin Pierce, Maddie Riedford, Sarah Carlisle and Lauren Kulaga along the back line. All total, the Jaguars have only allowed two goals at Carroll Stadium this season.

Offensively, junior midfielder Taylor Heidorn continues to pace the Jaguars attack with two goals and an assist while sophomore forward Kalli Shepler-Tucker has a team-high two assists. Both of Heidorn's goals have been game-winners and come on the home turf, where the Jaguars are an undefeated 3-0-2 in 2013.

"I'm expecting our kids to go out and put up a great effort," IUPUI Head Coach Chris Johnson said. "I think we've established this year that we can be a competitive team every time we step on the field. I'm hoping we can go in this weekend and put two wins up on the board.

"I think it's an opportunity for us to really test ourselves against two very good opponents. Ball State and Butler both come in with winning records and have beat some good opponents."

Friday's opponent, Ball State (5-2), is coming off a 1-0 double overtime win over Air Force and also has wins over Northern Iowa, Green Bay, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech this season. Kelsey Wendlandt leads the Cardinals in goals (3) while Elaina Musleh and Cailey Starck have three assists each. The goalie duo of Layne Schramm and Brooke Dennis have allowed four goals in seven games with Schramm having a team-high 19 saves. IUPUI is 2-4-1 all-time against BSU including a 1-0 win in Muncie last season that broke a four-game losing streak to the Cards.

Prior to Friday's match, the IUPUI players will wear 'Live United' t-shirts as a proud partner of the United Way program. United Way supports more than 100 local organizations of all types that are important to the quality of life in the region -- after-school programs for young children, Read-UP in IPS Schools, job-training programs for adults, programming for senior citizens who lack a support network. Campus-wide, IUPUI is one of the top 20 contributors to the United Way of Central Indiana and ranked number one under Higher Education Institutions.

Butler (6-1-2) is unbeaten in its last eight matches, including recent wins over No. 11 Michigan and a 4-3 triumph over Wright State on Wednesday night. Sophia Maccagnone paces the Bulldog offense with five goals and six assists while Stephanie Kaylor has five assists. In goal, Julie Burton has a 0.84 goals against average and has made 32 saves while playing every minute this season. The Jaguars are 3-7-1 against BU, but have won the last three meetings dating back to 2008. The most recent meeting was a 3-1 IUPUI victory at Kuntz Stadium on Sept. 29, 2010.

Sunday's match will mark the first home televised match in the program's history.
