MUNCIE, Ind. – The IUPUI volleyball team looks to bounce back from a tough weekend at the Sports Imports DC Koehl Classic when it travels to nearby Muncie, Ind., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to square off against Ball State. Tuesday's match is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Last weekend, the Jaguars went 0-3 at the Sports Imports DC Koehl Classic falling to No. 13 Ohio State, Xavier and Southeast Missouri State. There were several significant individual performances from IUPUI players over the weekend, but the Jags weren't able to win the crucial points resulting in the three losses.

"We had some great individual efforts last weekend, but ultimately we went 0-3 and we need to have everybody playing well at the same time in order to get back on track," head coach Steve Payne said. "We play a very good Ball State team that has won five straight and we need to play some of our best volleyball if we want to leave there with a win."

Among those significant individual performances was Moriah Fair recording her 1,000th career kill in the first set against Southeast Missouri State. Also in that match, #Kaitlyn Hickey put down a career-best 25 kills and added a career-high 28 digs, and Beth Howard tallied a season-best 33 digs. However, the Redhawks overcame a two sets to none deficit by winnings sets three, four and five to pick up the win.

Fair remains the team leader in kills entering Tuesday's match averaging 3.93 kills per set, but as a team, the Jags are averaging just 12.39 kps compared to 12.98 kps for their opponents.

The Cardinals come into the week with an 8-3 record after going a perfect 3-0 at the Hawkeye Classic last weekend. Alex Fuelling leads the team in kills averaging 3.74 kps, and the Cardinals offense as a whole has dominated their opponent's offense posting 14.00 kps compared to 10.67 kps.

Ball State has also recorded 23 more aces than their opponents through 11 matches, in addition to outdigging its opponents, 15.38 to 13.72, and outblocking the opposition, 1.97 to 1.87.

IUPUI is 2-13 all-time against Ball State, with its last win occurring on Sept. 9, 2008, in Muncie by a score of 3-1.
