Wright State: Live Stats
INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will hit the road for one and head for the other as the Jaguars continue the non-conference schedule this weekend. On Friday (Sept. 7), the Jaguars will trek north to take on Eastern Michigan (2-2-1) in a 5:00 p.m. kickoff before returning home to host Wright State on Sunday (Sept. 9) as part of a men's and women's doubleheader. Sunday's match is slated to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m..
Most recently, the Jaguars were blanked at home by Xavier last Sunday, 3-0 in a game played through a driving rain storm. The Musketeers scored twice in a 2:10 stretch in the first half against junior goalkeeper Kristin Haseley and added a second half insurance goal in the victory. The Jaguars controlled possession throughout the second half and notched a season-high 11 corner kicks, but were unable to solve the XU defense. Scoring goals has been an issue for the Jaguars in the season's first six games as IUPUI (1-5) has netted just three goals thus far. Junior Mackenzie Calvert tallied the game-winner at Ball State on Aug. 31 and classmates Ashley Doreski and Kristin Pierce each have a goal this season. Senior Kelli Parks and freshman Kalli Shepler-Tucker have accounted for the team's two assists.
Defensively, junior Giselle Guzman has been in goal the majority of the time, registering a 2.35 goals against average and 31 saves in six starts.
EMU is led by sophomores Bianca Rossi (3 goals, 2 assists) and Angela Vultaggio (2 goals, 3 assists) at the offensive end. In goal, Jenna O'Dell has a 1.53 GAA and 38 saves in five starts. IUPUI is 2-6-2 all-time against EMU, but has won the last two meetings in the series. Last year's match was a 2-1 double overtime decision at Kuntz Stadium with Megan Hock tallying the game-winner. Four of the last five meetings in the series have gone to double overtime.
Wright State (2-1-3) is winless in it's last four outings entering the weekend, including back-to-back ties against DePaul and at Eastern Kentucky. The Raiders will open the weekend hosting IPFW on Friday before heading to Indianapolis on Sunday. Emilie Fillion leads the squad with three goals while both Sarah Gross and Kalee Thompson have two assists each. In all, five individuals have accounted for the Raiders' seven goals on the year. The Raiders have been elite defensively, allowing just four goals in seven matches, led by Brooke McCurdy in goal. McCurdy has a 0.62 goals against average and made 26 stops in six starts.
IUPUI is 0-6 all-time against the Raiders, although the two schools haven't played since 2006. The Jaguars have been outscored 12-1 all-time in the six matchups.
