VOLLEYBALL CONTINUES ROAD TRIP AT SDSU AND NDSU

Jags look to bounce back from mid-week loss at IPFW

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI volleyball team continues its three-game road trip this weekend when it travels to Brookings, S.D., and Fargo, N.D., for weekend matches against South Dakota State and North Dakota State, respectively. The Jags first take on the Jackrabbits at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, before wrapping up the weekend in Fargo, N.D., against the Bison on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.

IUPUI comes into the weekend with a 2-1 Summit League record after suffering its first conference loss of the season Tuesday at IPFW. The Jaguars are currently a half game behind South Dakota State, who sits in first place with a 2-0 league mark. North Dakota State owns a 1-1 league record.

“Playing at South Dakota State and North Dakota State is always a challenge and they are good teams that play well at home,” said head coach Steve Payne. “We need to learn from our match at IPFW, correct those mistakes, and hopefully we’ll leave with a pair of wins.”

Coming into the weekend, Kelsey Hoefer leads the team and is sixth in the Summit League averaging 3.42 kps in conference-only action. In league-only play, Hoefer is also eighth in hitting percentage (.313), while teammate Bethany Fogler ranks third hitting at a .388 clip.

Defensively, Beth Howard ranks third in Summit League-only matches averaging 5.75 dps, and Kaitlyn Hickey sits in fifth averaging 4.83 dps.

The Jackrabbits come into their second weekend of conference play with a 2-0 record after posting wins over Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota State last weekend. Overall, SDSU owns a 9-3 record.

Kelly Fiegen leads the South Dakota State offensive attack averaging 3.17 kps, while hitting an impressive .389, which leads the league.

As a team, the Jackrabbits are hitting .244 and average 2.65 bps, which leads the Summit League.

The Jags are 4-6 all-time against South Dakota State, but are 0-5 when playing SDSU on the road.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE – Live Stats | Live Video

After four straight weekends on the road, the Bison return home to host Western Illinois and IUPUI this weekend. NDSU is 4-8 on the season and 1-1 in Summit League play.

On the season, Brynn Joki leads the offensive attack averaging 3.70 kps, and that number escalates to 5.29 kps in league-only match-ups.

IUPUI is 0-12 all-time against North Dakota State, including a 0-5 record when playing in Fargo.
