INDIANAPOLIS – Fresh off a month in which it played eight of 10 matches on the road, the IUPUI volleyball closes out its 2012 regular-season with a three-match homestand over the next two weekends beginning with a Summit League match on Saturday, Nov. 3, against Western Illinois. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. ET.

During the month of October, IUPUI managed to post a 7-3 record, including a 5-2 mark in Summit League matches, upping its overall record to 18-9 and its conference record to 10-3. With three league matches remaining, the Jaguars sit in a tie for first place in the standings with Fort Wayne.

In its last match, the Jags went on the road and used a career-high 20 kills from Kaitlyn Hickey, and a career-high tying 10 blocks from Bethany Fogler to defeat Eastern Illinois in four sets.

In conference-only action, Hickey ranks in the Top 10 in kills (10th, 3.17 kps), aces (4th, 0.29), and digs (4.69 dps). Hickey is the only freshman to rank in the Top 10 in those categories, while also being the only player ranked in the Top 7 in digs that is not a libero.
With her 10 blocks against the Panthers, Fogler tied IUPUI’s single-match school record for the third time in her career and continued to climb the single-season school record charts. Based on her numbers this season, Fogler currently sits in the Top 3 in the Jags single-season record books in hitting percentage (.338), solo blocks (19), block assists (111), total blocks (130) and blocks per set (1.30).

For her career, Fogler ranks third in solo blocks (49), second in block assists (277), third in total blocks (326) and first in blocks per set (1.11).  Additionally, she has collected those numbers in just three seasons.

Moriah Fair leads the team in kills averaging 3.24 kps, while also adding 3.06 dps to rank third on the squad. Alexis Meeks and Ellyn Jones have teamed up to lead the Jaguars to a .230 overall hitting percentage this season in league-only matches, which is tops in the league.

Western Illinois enters the weekend with a 4-9 Summit League record after coming away with a 3-1 win over Omaha last weekend. Samantha Fournier leads the Leathernecks in kills averaging 3.65, while Ann Miller isn’t far behind averaging 3.26 kps.

Defensively, the Leathernecks average 15.56 dps and 1.67 bps. Bridget Murphy averages a team-best 4.96 dps, while Mallory Gibson leads the front row defense with 0.81 bps.
