INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer team will cap a three-game homestand when they host Summit League leader Western Illinois on Saturday (Oct. 6) at 4:00 p.m. at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Saturday's match will be the second live broadcast of the season as Scott McCauley (pxp) and Yogi Snider (analyst) call the action from high above the pitch. The broadcast can be viewed online or through mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads.

Like all home soccer matches, admission is free and open to the public.

IUPUI (2-10-1, 0-1-1 Summit) is coming off a fantastic defensive start to The Summit League schedule having played South Dakota to a 0-0 double overtime tie before dropping a 1-0 count to UMKC on Sunday (Sept. 30). Junior goalkeeper Giselle Guzman has continued to impress in net, lowering her goals against average to 2.00 while racking up 73 saves in 12 games. She's responsible for both of the team's shutouts in 2012 and had a stretch of nearly 230 scoreless minutes snapped with the goal yielded to UMKC.

Junior Ashley Doreski continues to lead the Jaguars with three goals while freshman Grace Perkowitz has two goals and an assist from her defensive midfield spot. Fellow freshman Kalli Shepler-Tucker comes in with a team-high three assists, accounting for nearly half of the team's total.

WIU (10-2, 2-0 Summit) has been dominant this season, outscoring its opponents 34-6 in 12 games. The Fighting Leathernecks only losses came at home to Northern Iowa and at Missouri State on Sept. 14. Since then, Western has won four straight by a combined 10-2 score. Katie Condon and Sarah Hall lead the squad with five goals each, with Hall having netted four game-winners. Skyler Jessop has four tallies and Kellie Julius has distributed a team-high five assists. In goal, Laura Atkinson is an undefeated 6-0 on the year with four shutouts and boasts a 0.34 goals against average.

IUPUI is 7-7 all-time against Western Illinois but has won three of the past four meetings in the series. The last match in Indianapolis was a 1-0 Western win on Oct. 31, 2010 at Kuntz Stadium.

Fans are kindly asked to bring a canned good with them to Saturday's match as the IUPUI Athletics Department begins stockpiling non-perishable goods to contribute to a local food bank this holiday season.
